Until Justice Just Is

Choate Construction 2907 Providence Road, Charlotte, United States

In continued support of our YWCA partnership, CREW Charlotte will be holding an open discussion event, Until Justice Just Is (UJJI), formally known as Stand Against Racism. As part of the YWCA’s racial justice efforts, they want to continue education efforts in our community.  As we activate our community we invite you to join us again for our Stand + Commit! As a reminder, UJJI  is an annual series of events held at YWCAs across the country that raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities and build community among those who work for racial justice. This year, the YWCA will focus on mental health and racial trauma. We are inviting CREW members and friends to come together and discuss the different types of racism and how each is displayed in various environments. The open discussion that CREW Charlotte will hold alongside the YWCA will provide a facilitator’s guide for you and your colleagues to have a discussion about the different types of racism and how they manifest in our world. The guide will also invite your group to put together a list of questions to ask each other as a way of supporting one another when racism does manifest. This tool can be used to discuss acts of racism displayed on the national stage as well as in various spaces.

CREW Charlotte’s Emerging Leaders Event (Members Only)

Choate Construction 2907 Providence Road, Charlotte, United States

Join CREW Charlotte for our 2023 Emerging Leaders Event - Women & Investing: Take control of your financial future by planning now! This event is intended for CRE professionals who are 35 years old and under. On average, women earn less over time than men.  This causes the median retirement income of women to be 60% of that for men. Saving early is very valuable and can increase a woman’s chances of having enough to last through her retirement years. Statistically, women outlive men and need a larger nest egg to cover longevity.  They are also more likely to spend their last years alone. When it comes to retirement goals - Women are usually caregivers and don’t invest as much as men. Women are more likely to become single parents earlier in life.  Expenses associated with this need to be considered for successful financial planning. If your employer does not offer a retirement savings plan, save in an individual retirement account and perhaps in after-tax accounts. Safeguard your own needs before deciding to help other family members financially.   Speakers Meaghan GrossBank of America Brenda MillardBank of America Merrill Lynch Taleshia SmithBank of America               Since this event is complimentary, please consider a donation to CREW Network Foundation.
