Taking control of your narrative is a mighty act, and it is the driving thought behind this year’s theme: "Self-titled." Women are represented across the full spectrum of professional careers in the building industry. With career goals and life aspirations, we define ourselves without gendered limits. At Women in Green, we unapologetically celebrate, sharing our experiences and honoring our impact as professionals. We acknowledge the past while defining ourselves and the future—without altering who we are or asking permission. Women in Green is a platform to gather and learn from others across fields and disciplines, generations, and job titles. In 2023, we write (or rewrite) our stories, self-titled. This year, USGBC Carolinas convenes with leaders to celebrate in four locations on May 24: Asheville, Charlotte, Durham, and Greenville, SC. We will convene from 4-6 pm with great conversation and refreshments. Advanced Registration Required. We are excited to feature Charlotte’s Tracy Finch Dodson, Assistant City Manager and Economic Development Director for our June Luncheon program. Tracy will share challenges she has faced as a female in traditionally male-dominated fields and then dive into “The State of Charlotte.” Tracy has been in Charlotte for 30 years. She holds master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Harvard University. Her background in urban planning, architecture, and business operations gives her a unique view of Charlotte. Fortunately, for Charlotte, Tracy left the private sector to use her talents to tackle negotiations with professional sports franchises, building corridors of opportunity, attracting corporate relocations such as Honeywell, and charting the course of growth for the next 40 years.
