CREW Charlotte created commonalty cohorts to improve inclusion and belonging throughout the chapter. Commonalty cohorts are groups of members who either share a specific demographic commonality or are allies of the demographic. The cohorts meet quarterly to discuss like-minded topics, including collaborating on suggestions for improving CREW Charlotte, and are facilitated by a DEI committee member. This quarter, the PWD cohort will meet on August 10th and Diana Palecek will facilitate a group discussion using the book “Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century” as the springboard. The book is thought-provoking and heart-wrenching. All are welcome to attend and can participate in the discussion; reading the book is not required! This month’s topic will focus on how the BIPOC community can bring its cultural identity to work.
