CREW Charlotte August 2023 Luncheon: “The River District: Charlotte’s Newest Master-planned Community”

Myers Park Country Club 2415 Roswell Avenue, Charlotte, NC

We are pleased to have the Crescent Communities River District team and their partner, Catawba Lands Conservancy, for our August Luncheon program. Fran will share all of the positive momentum and latest announcements for their very exciting development, “The River District”. A refreshing alternative to the traditional, single-use suburban model, this 1,400-acre sustainable, master-planned community integrates the primary components of urban life — a connected network of homes, retail shops, restaurants, office buildings, schools and public spaces — all with the allure of parks, trails, forests, the Catawba River and wide-open spaces. Designed to connect city living to outdoor experiences, The River District is a place like no other. We have all seen the recent media announcements. Come hear the latest and greatest live!   **MYERS PARK COUNTRY CLUB** NEW LOCATION As you may know, Byron's is no longer an event space. CREW Charlotte will be trying three different venues over the coming months to decide which location will be our "home" in 2024. Please be sure to complete the post-event survey and share feedback on all of the spaces we try. 11:15 a.m. - Networking 11:45 a.m. - Luncheon Meeting $55 Members/$80 Guests   This event is SOLD OUT! Please email Patty Trepp Drummond if you would like to be added to the waitlist.   Thank You to Our August Luncheon Sponsors

CREW Charlotte Commonality Cohorts

CREW Charlotte created commonalty cohorts to improve inclusion and belonging throughout the chapter. Commonalty cohorts are groups of members who either share a specific demographic commonality or are allies of the demographic.  The cohorts meet quarterly to discuss like-minded topics, including collaborating on suggestions for improving CREW Charlotte, and are facilitated by a DEI committee member. This quarter, the PWD cohort will meet on August 10th and Diana Palecek will facilitate a group discussion using the book “Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century” as the springboard. The book is thought-provoking and heart-wrenching.  All are welcome to attend and can participate in the discussion; reading the book is not required! For those interested in getting the book, it can be purchased from Amazon:  Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century: Wong, Alice: 9781984899422: Amazon.com: Books Sign up below! On August 15th, join us at 7th St. Station and grab a Hip Hop Smoothie for the PRISM cohort.  Come experience some of Charlotte’s BIPOC culture. This month’s topic will focus on how the BIPOC community can bring its cultural identity to work.  Check out this article and come join the discussion, https://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/how-to-bring-your-cultural-identity-to-work/. Please sign up below if you would like to participate in the discussion and have a beverage from Hip Hop Smoothie. Please join your peers in the PRIDE Cohort at this year’s Charlotte Pride parade!  We have decided to walk in the parade this year to show our support for Charlotte PRIDE.  The parade is August 20th from 1-4 p.m.  Participants will need to arrive for staging by noon.  Please sign up below if you would like to participate as part of the CREW Charlotte crew!
