Keith Cockrell, President of Bank of America Charlotte, joins us in discussing a compelling exploration of how we can harness our rich heritage to guide the development of the rapidly expanding city of Charlotte. Kieth Cockrell is President of Bank of America Charlotte and serves as the head of Sports Sponsorships for the company. As President of Bank of America Charlotte, he is responsible for connecting banking and investment resources offered through the eight lines of business to people and companies across the region as well as deploying Bank of America’s resources to address social and economic concerns to help the local community thrive.
During his 40 year career in financial services, Kieth has held several key executive roles inclusive of COO for Global Technology & Operations, COO for Consumer & Small Business, National Community Markets executive and President of Customer Service and Support.
Kieth is a passionate ally and advocate for DE&I. Previously, he served as vice chair of the Global Diversity & Inclusion Council. In this role, he was instrumental in establishing several employee networks; including the Black Professional Group, the Hispanic/Latino Organization for Leadership and Advancement, the Military Support and Assistance Group and the Black Executive Advisory Council. He has received two D&I awards, the Root Award and the Vanguard Award, for his role promoting equality, unity and multiculturalism.
Kieth is an active member of the community. He currently serves as Board Vice Chair of the Foundation for the Carolinas, Board Vice Chair of Johnson C. Smith University, Immediate Past Chair of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance and Board Member for United Negro College Fund, Charlotte Sports Foundation and My Brother’s Keeper Charlotte-Mecklenburg. He also serves on the Board of Visitors for Davidson College. Previously, he served on the Boards of Museum of the New South, Providence Day School, United Way, Goodwill Industries, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and the American Diabetes Association, which previously named him Father of the Year. He successfully co-chaired the 2020 Charlotte City Bond Campaign. He is a member of both NC Business Hall Fame and South Huntington Schools Hall of Fame. The recipient of the City of Charlotte Harvey B Gantt Civility & Courage Award, Charlotte Post Foundation Luminary Award and named a Power 100 Influential Leader by Business North Carolina.
