August 2025 Luncheon “The New Labor Landscape: How Workforce Dynamics are Reshaping the Market” with Laura Ullrich, Director, Economic Research at Indeed

August 12 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join us for a look ahead from the viewpoint of Laura Ullrich, PhD, in her new role as Director, Economic Research at Indeed.

The presentation will provide an overview of the current economic landscape with a particular focus on the labor market. It will include key trends such as job and wage growth, unemployment rates, and the recent trajectory of labor force increases. It will also cover broader economic conditions, including inflation trends, consumer behavior, and the regional economic outlook. The goal is to provide a clear picture of where the economy stands today, highlight emerging challenges like labor shortages and productivity shifts, and offer insight into what these developments might mean going forward.

Laura Ullrich is the director of economic research at Indeed, leading the North American team of economists at The Hiring Lab. Prior to Indeed, Laura was a regional economist and senior manager at the Charlotte branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Previously, Ullrich was associate dean for undergraduate programs and a professor of economics at Winthrop University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Georgia and a master’s and doctorate in economics from the University of Tennessee.

In 2014, she served as a Fulbright Scholar teaching economics in Kosovo and has spent considerable time working on local economic development issues in Bolivia.
