The Primax Pink Warriors are a local team in Charlotte that benefits Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for the American Cancer Society. We are passionate about supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to help fund life-saving research and the vital programs they offer to cancer patients.
Our team was the #1 fundraising team in the Nation in 2020! Our goal for 2021 will be higher so that we can truly leave a legacy. If we raise $165,000, we will have a breast cancer research grant named after the Primax Pink Warriors! We will be the first Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team to have a research grant named after their team, and we are going to hit that goal.
We envision a future where our children no longer live with the threat of breast cancer and where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive this disease. By supporting our team, you help ensure that Making Strides Against Breast Cancer can continue fighting for that same vision.
The Primax Pink Warriors are hosting a golf tournament on September 26, 2022.
Safe Alliance’s mission is to provide hope and healing for people in crisis. They do this through a variety of programs and services. Susan G. Komen Charlotte is the local source for funding breast cancer detection, support and educational awareness in the Charlotte region. We fund non-duplicative, community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening, diagnostic, transportation, navigation and treatment support projects for the medically under-served population in Charlotte and surrounding areas.
The first Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure was held October 4, 1997 after founder Penelope Wilson put an ad in the Charlotte Observer calling people to participate. Komen Charlotte was subsequently established in 1999.
75% of net funds support breast health programs in our 13 county service area to provide services such as screening mammograms, diagnostic services, education, lymphedema treatment and bandages, survivorship support and transportation. Since inception, Komen Charlotte has granted over $17 million to these services in our community.
The remaining 25% of net funds are invested into the Susan G. Komen Research Fund. Komen’s commitment is to find new treatments for the most aggressive forms of breast cancer that are killing more than 41,000 people in the U.S. each year.
