Note: No children’s clothing or heavy boots/coats this round please. Let’s save the cold weather gear for our Winter drive.\n \nThe Lincoln County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (LCCADV) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit\, organized in 1993 by citizens who were concerned about domestic violence issues. On January 9\, 1995\, their shelter\, affectionately named Amy’s House after the local woman who inspired LCCADV into action\, officially opened in a four-room former mill house\, offering shelter\, support services and assistance for 7-8 people.  It was a safe haven for families displaced by violence and a transitional step until they could recover\, heal\, empower and make plans for their future. \nAt the end of 2023\, Amy’s House moved in to a new near net zero energy efficient shelter (designed by several CREW Charlotte members!) that combines support services and increased their temporary housing capacity to approximately 40 women and children starting over to live a life free of abuse!  Your donations will get taken to Amy’s Closet\, where survivors get to “shop” for free for clothing items they need for work\, home and play or will get resold to the public\, to directly support these families. \nThe Coalition provides many support services to in-shelter and out-of-shelter clients in addition to safe shelter and food\, but the core of the emergency service is Amy’s House.  One resident said “this is a house of hope\, love and peace…coming here has changed my life completely.” \nThank you to Our Luncheon Sponsor

DESCRIPTION:SHIFT DETAILS\n\n\nDATE / TIME\n4/25/2024 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM\n\n\nLOCATION\n7011 Estelle Smith Court\, Charlotte\, NC 28208\n\n\nGOOGLE\nGoogle Maps\n\n\nTASK\nVolunteers will measure\, cut\, & install the drywall throughout the interior of this newly constructed\, one-story house!\nAGE REQUIREMENT: 16+. 16 & 17 year old’s cannot use power tools or work at heights 6 feet & above\n\n\n# OF SPOTS RESERVED\n10\n\n\nAGE REQUIREMENT\nNo one under 16 is permitted on the work site. However\, certain tasks (namely roof work) require volunteers to  be 18 or older. If you are unsure about this shift’s age requirement\, please refer back to the shift listing or contact HFHCR Volunteer Services.\n\n\nWAIVER INFORMATION\nIf a volunteer registers him/herself for the shift via HFHCR’s online registration system\, he/she does not need to fill out a hardcopy of the Standard Release of Liability Form (it will have been read and electronically signed). However\, If a HFHCR staff member or a group leader registered on his/her behalf\, please have the volunteer fill out a waiver beforehand or upon arrival to site. ALL volunteers should sign the sign-in sheet to confirm attendance.\n16 & 17 YEAR OLD VOLUNTEERS: In addition to the aforementioned waiver\, which is read & electronically signed during the online registration system\, all 16 & 17 year olds must print the Release of Liability for Minors Form \nand have it completed by a parent/legal guardian.
