SUMMARY:CREW Charlotte Book Club: The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance---What Women Should Know
DESCRIPTION:CREW Charlotte is thrilled to introduce our inaugural book club\, featuring the captivating summer read\, The Confidence Code\, written by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman. Delve into the depths of neuroscience as we explore the origins of confidence and uncover intriguing research on its connection to our brains. Are you born with confidence or is it something that can be cultivated? Don’t miss out\, register now and participate in a stimulating discussion in person the afternoon of August 14th. \nFor questions\, reach out to Sherri Commander\, Myranda Sieverding or Dianne Jones. \nBook: The Confidence Code – The Science and Art of Self-Assurance – What Women Should Know  By: Katty Kay & Claire Shipman\nAmazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/Confidence-Code-Science-Self-Assurance-What-Should/dp/006223062X \nAbout the Book: \nConfidence. We want it. We need it. But it can be maddeningly enigmatic and out of reach. The authors of the New York Times bestseller Womenomics deconstruct this essential\, elusive\, and misunderstood quality and offer a blueprint for bringing more of it into our lives. \nIs confidence hardwired into the DNA of a lucky few\, or can anyone learn it? Is it best expressed by bravado\, or is there another way to show confidence? Which is more important: confidence or competence? Why do so many women\, even the most successful\, struggle with feelings of self-doubt? Is there a secret to channeling our inner confidence? \nIn The Confidence Code\, journalists Katty Kay and Claire Shipman travel to the frontiers of neuroscience on a hunt for the confidence gene and reveal surprising new research on its roots in our brains. They visit the world’s leading psychologists who explain how we can all choose to become more confident simply by taking action and courting risk\, and how those actions change our physical wiring. They interview women leaders from the worlds of politics\, sports\, the military\, and the arts to learn how they have tapped into this elemental resource. They examine how a lack of confidence impacts our leadership\, success\, and fulfillment. \nUltimately\, they argue\, while confidence is partly influenced by genetics\, it is not a fixed psychological state. That’s the good news. You won’t discover it by thinking positive thoughts or by telling yourself (or your children) that you are perfect as you are. You also won’t find it by simply squaring your shoulders and faking it. But it does require a choice: less people pleasing and perfectionism and more action\, risk taking\, and fast failure. \nInspiring\, insightful\, and persuasive\, The Confidence Code shows that by acting on our best instincts and by daring to be authentic\, women can feel the transformative power of a life on confidence. \n  \nRegister Now\n  \nThank You to Our Sponsor\n\n\n

SUMMARY:After Hours at The Monarch Market
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an After Hours with Crescent Communities at Monarch Market. \nCrescent Communities’ vision is to ‘Build Community. Better People’s Lives.’ In 2019 the purchase of 101 N Tryon\, a 547\,000-square-foot 20-story tower was made by Crescent Communities and Nuveen Real Estate to do just that. The visionary redevelopment was supported by forward-thinking activism to take a building constructed in the 1980s to become the meeting point of the city’s center—one that could give back to Uptown by becoming a staple arts and entertainment meeting point\, a sporting go-to destination\, and the weekly meeting spot for coffee\, drinks\, lunch\, and everything in between. The design was intended to be a place beyond working hours to revitalize the legacy of trade and commerce that once stood on the iconic corners of Trade and Tryon. \nLocated on the ground floor of One Independence Center\, a 20-story renovated office\, Monarch Market is a dynamic 18\,000-square-foot food hall developed by Crescent Communities and managed by Hospitality HQ. Monarch Market has 12 eclectic food vendors\, three distinct bars\, and one full-service restaurant all offering a fresh take on the many facets of modern dining. Vendors include local and national concepts; Barley and Burger\, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop\, Curry Gate\, Dock Local\, Focaccina\, Kabab2Go\, Pha Khao Lao\, RolledAF\, Seoul Good\, Sushi Art\, and Just Chicken\, plus two custom bars—Aster Cocktail Room and Lanai Terrace Bar. Aster offers classic cocktails with a modern twist on the second floor above the market’s main dining area and is available for private events with an outdoor terrace overlooking Tryon Street. Lanai Terrace Bar serves coastal-inspired drinks in a covered patio with an entrance along Tryon Street. \n.\nTuesday\, October 15\nMonarch Market – Uptown\n4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. \n  \nRegister Now\n
