DESCRIPTION:As Director of Planning\, Design\, and Development for the City of Charlotte\, Ms. Holmes is committed to building a more equitable Charlotte. She demonstrates a deep understanding of planning and development with a steadfast commitment to the residents of Charlotte. Her ability to build cross-functional teams in the city’s organization serves as a valuable catalyst for the community’s rapid\, ongoing growth. \nPrior to her current role as Director\, Monica served as the Deputy Director\, the Executive Manager of the Corridors of Opportunity Program\, and spent her early years at the city leading the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Ordinance rewrite and focusing on building an urban design and placemaking program. Monica’s most proud accomplishments include the unanimous adoption of the Community Area Plans\, the successful implementation and deployment of over 50 million dollars for Corridors of Opportunity public and private investment\, and the staying power of the team at the Urban Design Center.
